New Riddem…
October 31, 2007
Had no internet for what seems like ages hence no posts…Back on the case now so keep checking, once a wwek from now on though, monday mornings innit…
Had loads of pics to post but i left my card reader at home…
Been an amzing week for Drum ‘N Bass though, got the long awaited Commix album ‘Call to mind’ Best D&B album in a hell of a long time, their production is spot on every time!
Commix Mansdem
Its not all Drums tracks though, couple of house tunes too…the whole album has a really good analog/autumn/techno-y vibe to it…definatly check it out…
My favorite track is definatly ‘Belleview’ really minimal tech inspired tune, so fresh…check out all the track on Juno here…
And the TC evolution album too…
TC Mans
Amazing package right here, the special edition has a mix by the Scratch Perverts and a video interview with bonus tracks and ahem, ringtones (great)
probably the most foward thinking album in D&B this year…definatly not standard build-drop-roll tunes here! I saw the Evolution live band at Global Gathering this year…so so good…check the album out!
Bit of minimal techno too, not new by anymeans, but i just found it again in my iTunes…’Condensed’ by Lusine ICL he’s been around for time and it shows in the production, effortless soundscapes, makes a lot of D&B producers look lazy…
Check out this tune ‘The Stop’…Amazing, ive been wanting to stop mixing drums for ages and this is one of the tunes that got me into minimal tech…
Portsmouth Mission
October 14, 2007
This weekend was all about a quick trip to the arse end of the country A.K.A Portsmouth…First time down there in aaaages, its amazing how long stickers and posters stay up there!
Left Thursday morning, walked to temple meades and saw this dope sign in broardmeade…guess all the stuff like this will dissapear when they finish re doing it…
Got the train to Exeter to get a lift down to Pompy, roadtrip!
Quick pic of a shabby painting i did for a friend…
Started The drive down with the AA route planner in hand…
Clocking in at a ton…
The drive was supposed to take 3 hours…About an hour into it, burger king called loud and clear…
I think this guy must be a regular…
Things started going tits up as soon as we left, wrong turn got us lost and id thought i knew better than the route planner…
Doing ‘well over the speed limit’ came round a corner and got greeted by the old bill…
Luckily they were conducting a census not a speed check, we got asked where we were from, where we were going to and oddly enough, if it was a business trip we were on…what the fuck?!
Back on the road, we should have been over halfway there but we were still lost…
‘yeah mate, we’ll be there for 5 latest’
The middle of nowhere, somewhere near Poole…trafic jam sticker steeze
Little chef piss stop…
Still nowhere near…
Finally…
Got to Russ’s house an hour late…It was his birthday…
And this is his mantra…tight as fuck…
The theme of gifts from people seemed to have a porno edge…the main present being a video called, ‘Banged in Baghdad’ i have never seen such shite porno ever…my nob shriveled up…The man himself with his birthday card…
And the wrapping paper…
Enough with the gay wrapping paper already…
‘Banged in Baghdad’
there was lots of talk of taking the offending tape back and demanding a refund…Beers were drunk and we headed out for food…
Chilli session…pretty hot innit…
enchilada, so so so good…
More vodkas…and off to a bar…Loki tee logo rip off…not cool…
Dont remember the name of the bar but it had an awesome RICHT painting by the door (that i forgot to get a photo of) noice ladies and this fresh FAILE poster on the wall…
Alcohol and paint markers dont mix…
Next day i hit up Bored in Southsea…They got a display of SB’s in the window to mark the release of the Nike SB vid thats out this tuesday…They modestly call it ‘one of the best collections of SB’s in the U.K.’ i think not…Couple of nice bits though, the Tweed hi’s are killing it!
Heres the note they had in the window bragging about the dunks…
An old BC sticker, probably put this up 9 months ago and it hasnt been touched…weird…
Went for a walk to get rid of the hangover…and saw a bus shelter on a truck…odd…
And a couple of wicked signs…
Ended up at the pier for some penny gambling..so dope!
I lost the lot…
Went out for more drinks as soon as the sun went down, awesome sign on a chippie…
Drunken mansdem throughout the night…
G-money looking shady
The Barbarian!
A sticker on a billboards arse…
An old friend…
Found this rad sweetshop that was open at like 2 in the morning, so odd..so dope…
Went back home and faided the record crate…all the big riddem was out…
Shit got a bit hazy here due to drug intake…fell asleep around 5ish…
A sign from earlier i forgot…I love Portsmouth because it seems like its 15 years behind the rest of the world…
Amazing cover on a pavement near a gay bar…
Wicked Typography on Luke Viberts new album…
Even better neon pink flares…
Started the drive back…stopped at a little chef in the middle of nowhere again…turns out a bunch of us stopped there on the drive back from global earlier in the summer, weird…saw ANOTHER dope sign…
Then back through Bath…hot air baloons…
Thats about it…
Graphic Goodness
October 11, 2007
Bit of a short post and a day late, you know how we do…off on a road trip ting tomorrow so no posts till tuesday…in the meantime, a few bits for you to scope…no theme, just whats been going on lately…
Fancy looking craft by the arnolfini…
Ole skool train steeze! so so dope!
Great example of what not to name your company…
Reos fire extinguisher tags are killing it right now!
check the steeze on deeze…
Krazy Ivan’s (TM) Krepz…dunlops are well better…
Tagging is over rated…its all about handwriting, trust…mabye not, but i like this a lot…
Couple of little BC nibbles…more to come soon…
Thats it…From now on though, posts will be up on Monday and Thursday mornings…Give you summat to read while you should be working… Hot chocolate and valium time…
